Named after bitcoin’s anonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto; Satoshi’s Treasure is a relatively new alternate reality game where the creator/creators have hidden the keys to $1 million worth of bitcoin around the world. This coerces the players of the game to form alliances and implement strategies to find the keys.
Satoshi’s Treasure co-creator Eric Meltzer of Primitive Ventures has revealed that about 60,000 people have signed up for notifications related to the international scavenger hunt for $1 million worth of bitcoin. This may not be the actual number of participants in this ‘bitcoin quest’ but it gives off the idea that a lot of people are interested in the game.
An exclusive reveal hints that a group of veteran crypto investors; Naval Ravikant, Balaji Srinivasan, Mark Pincus, Andrew Lee, IDEO CoLabs Ventures, Nic Carter, Matt Walsh, Meltem Demirors, Li Xiaolai, Jehan Chu and Sam Engelbardt have pledged a certain amount to fund games of this sort in the future as well as campaigns. And also, the keys to this bitcoin wallet were split into fragments of 1,000; a minimum of 400 key fragments is required to move the funds.
